GILVAN NUNES

Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA

BIO

Gilvan Nunes (b. 1966, Vermelho Novo, Minas Gerais, Brazil) studied at Escola de Artes Visuais Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro during a pivotal moment in the resurgence of Brazilian painting. His work explores the intersection of painting and object, drawing from nature’s constant transformation through color, form, and gesture.

Working primarily in painting, Nunes also develops parallel bodies of drawings, collages, and, more recently, glazed ceramics. Since relocating to Wayne, Pennsylvania in 2017, his practice has expanded into new series of large-scale paintings and sculptural porcelain works.

His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Brazil, Europe, Africa, and the United States.
